QSIC 2004
Fourth International Conference on Quality Software
Special Focus on Quality Information Systems
Braunschweig, Germany, September 8-10, 2004

Software is playing an increasingly important role in our day-to-day
life. However, software today - unlike automobiles, bridges, or office
towers - is produced without the benefit of established standards. It
is well known that there are still unresolved errors in many of the
software systems that we are using every day. The aim of the QSIC
series of conferences is to provide a forum to bring together
researchers and practitioners working on improving the quality of
software, to present new results and exchange ideas in this
challenging area.

QSIC 2004 will be held in Braunschweig, Germany, the city of Henry the
Lion. Braunschweig is the second largest city in Lower Saxony with a
charming uniqueness that stems from the contrast between history and
present, tradition and future. Braunschweig is easily reachable by
express train from Frankfurt, Berlin, Hamburg or Hannover.

QSIC 2004 solicits research papers and experience reports on various
aspects of quality software with a special emphasis on, but not
limited to, quality information systems. Typical, but not exclusive
topics of interest are:

- Conceptual modeling and design: ontologies and semantics,
information systems, enterprise modeling, business processes,

- Distributed and web-based information systems: information networks,
wireless networks, internet-based systems, mobile information systems

- Software testing: automation, conformance, strategies, tools,
standards, economics, performance and robustness, processes and

- Information and knowledge management: economics of software quality,
  knowledge engineering

- Software quality: management and assurance, measurement and
benchmarking, review, inspection and walkthrough, reliability, safety
  and security

- Methods and tools: design tools, testing tools, information
systems engineering, quality tools, formal methods

- Evaluation of software products and components: static and dynamic
  analysis, validation and verification

- Applications: e-commerce, component-based systems, digital
libraries, distributed systems, embedded systems, enterprise
applications, information systems, mobile applications, multimedia

Submission of Papers

Authors are cordially invited to submit an abstract by March 12, 2004,
and a paper by March 19, 2004. Detailed submission instructions are
available from

Submissions must not have been published or be concurrently considered
for publication elsewhere. All submissions will be judged on the basis
of originality, contribution, technical and presentation quality, and
relevance to the conference. Papers may be finally accepted as full or
short papers. The proceedings will be published by IEEE Computer
Society Press. After the conference, selected papers will be invited
for a special issue of the Journal of Systems and Software for QSIC
