Bachelor of Science
Computer Science
The educational objectives of the bachelor of science degree program are to prepare students so that within a few years after graduation they will be well-respected computational problem solvers and recognized as algorithmic specialists contributing to the development of new technology and software products; they will be actively engaged in continual professional development; and will be using their technical knowledge, interpersonal and personal skills and professional attitude to advance their careers, the careers of others and the organizations for which they work.
Software Engineering
The educational objectives of the software engineering bachelor of science program are to graduate students who will be leaders in the development of software where their primary role may be in requirements elicitation, software design, application development, software testing or software evolution; be actively engaged in continual professional development; and who will use their technical knowledge, interpersonal and personal skills and professional attitude to advance their careers, the careers of others, the organizations for which they work and the profession of software engineering.
To achieve these objectives, graduates will possess skills developed as outcomes of the education provided by Florida Tech and the department.
Master of Science
Computer Science
The department will have partially fulfilled the educational portion of its mission if graduates of our Master of Science in Computer Science program:
- Have gained deep knowledge of computer science sufficient for preparation to enter a doctoral level program.
- Are employed as professionals in a computing related field.
Software Engineering
The department will have partially fulfilled the educational portion of its mission if graduates of our Master of Science in Software Engineering program:
- Have gained deep knowledge of software engineering sufficient for preparation to enter a doctoral level program.
- Are employed as professionals in the field of software engineering.
To achieve these objectives, M.S. graduates will possess certain talents developed as outcomes of the education provided by Florida Tech and the department.
Doctor of Philosophy
Computer Science
The department will have partially fulfilled the educational portion of its mission if, within a few years of graduation, graduates of our Ph.D. program are:
- Actively engaged in computing research;
- Steadily advancing along their chosen career path whether it be in teaching, industry, or government service;
- Using their technical knowledge, interpersonal and personal skills, and professional attitude to advance the careers of others.
To achieve these objectives, Ph.D. graduates will possess certain talents developed as outcomes of the education provided by Florida Tech and the department.
