Different things will work for different people. This is what I will try to do to organize for my dissertation - (I hope it works)
File cabinet - Copy and collect research.
File it - I would even color code it.
different colors for different areas of interest
Sticky note right on the article. Note what you liked. What did it conclude? Was it a good design? Did they handle a threat in an interesting way? Do you need to mine their bibliography? Why are you keeping this article.
Index card file - Not my first choice, but functional.
Record all info so you can find the article again.
Notes on why it is important - What it concludes, etc.
Database - Create a database for bibliographic information. (This is not my first choice either, but some of you will think this is easy to do.
Get bibliographic software - This is my first choice! I will demonstrate what I use. It’s easy to use and I’m not a CS person. :-)
