What is Microsoft DreamSpark?

DreamSpark is a Microsoft Program that supports technical education by providing access to Microsoft software for learning, teaching and research purposes. DreamSpark has a collection of Microsoft software offered freely to computer sciences or software engineering students.

How do I gain access to DreamSpark?

Access is automatically granted to any student currently enrolled in at least one CSE or SWE class.
It starts two weeks before the class begins, and it ends two weeks after the class finishes.

I am a CS/SE major and do not have access. Why?

If you are not taking any CSE or SWE classes this semester then you will not have access to DreamSpark.
If you are currently enrolled in a CSE or SWE class and do not have access to DreamSpark, contact the system administrator.

To download a product from DreamSpark:

  1. Go to the Microsoft DreamSpark Website
  2. Log in using TRACKS.
  3. Select a category from the left, or perform a search at the top.
  4. Choose the product you want to download.
  5. Choose one of the free download options and click "Add To Cart".
  6. Repeat for any other products you wish to download.
  7. Read the Student Use Guidelines. Click 'I Accept' if these conditions are agreed upon.
  8. Verify that the details are correct, including your Name and Email, then click "Proceed With Order".
  9. Copy and save the access code/serial number/product key.
  10. Click 'Download Options' next to the product name.
  11. Click on the title of the software to launch the download window.
  12. Click 'Start Download' to start the download.
  13. Save the file, then run it.
  14. Follow the on-screen instructions to finish downloading the product.

To recover a lost product key:

  1. Go to the DreamSpark Website.
  2. Log in using TRACKS.
  3. Click on 'Your Account' at the top of the screen.
  4. Select a previous order, and click "View Details"
  5. Copy and save the access code/serial number/product key.
